Problem Addressed and Objectives
Increase broiler meat production, promote poultry entrepreneurship, generate employment and improve farmers’ income and reduce dependence on poultry imports from other States.
Scheme Design and Key Interventions
Target Beneficiaries- 3487 beneficiaries assisted since 2022.
Eligibility- 1- Open to all eligible applicants; preference to SECC, Women and SHGs.
2- Suitable land and valid KYC documents required.
Financial Assistance-
· Maximum subsidy: ₹90,000 per farm.
· ₹45,000 chick subsidy (₹15/chick) and ₹15,000 for poultry shed construction.
Bank Credit & Technical Support
• Institutional finance through Cooperative Banks/REAP.
• Technical guidance and poultry management training provided by the AHD.

• Online application through Apuni Sarkar Portal.
• Applications are verified by field officers and approved through the CVO and DLEC

Success Story of Mr. Vijay Kaintura

Mr. Vijay Kaintura, a resident of the village Sira, Gadoli Uttarkashi is a progressive poultry farmer working day and night earning his livelihood through poultry farming.
Mr. Vijay Kaintura was selected as a beneficiary under the Broiler Farm Scheme 2023-24 run by the Animal Husbandry Department. He completed 6 batches of 500 broiler birds earning around an average profit of Rs 1.20 lakhs.
Through broiler farm scheme, Mr. Vijay Kaintura had an opportunity to stabilize his financial condition and work confidently in the field of broiler farming with the government subsidy of Rs 60,000.00 under this scheme.
Through IPDP and Animal Husbandry Department's support, Mr. Kaintura grabbed the opportunity to spread the horizons of his business and established his business like anything. With a farm capacity of 4000, he started supplying broiler birds to ITBP Matli every fortnight since 2024. He is very happy with this initiative of the AH department and is successfully running his business without being worrying for the market place to sell his birds.

Speciaized in - Poultry Farming
Initially engaged in poultry farming on a small scale, the beneficiary expanded her enterprise after enrolling under the Broiler Farm Scheme of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Uttarakhand. With support under the scheme, she diversified into both broiler and Kuroiler farming and has now established a farm with a capacity of around 1,000–1,500 birds. The expansion has significantly improved his income, with monthly profits of approximately ₹20,000–₹30,000, along with an additional ₹5,000–₹10,000 earned through the sale of Kuroiler eggs and meat. The scheme has thus helped transform a small poultry activity into a more profitable and sustainable livelihood.
