Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam held a meeting with representatives of recognized national political parties to review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and seek their feedback. A detailed presentation on the notice hearing process was shared, with the CEO reiterating that voter convenience remains the top priority. He informed the parties that nearly 19 lakh of the 24 lakh notices (77%) have already been delivered through Booth Level Officers (BLOs), while over 93,000 Form 6 applications, 1.39 lakh Form 7 applications, and more than 40,000 Form 8 applications have been received so far.
The CEO also clarified the provisions governing claims and objections, emphasizing that all applications are being processed strictly as per the prescribed rules after due verification by EROs and AEROs. He directed all districts to dispose of general anomaly notices at the BLO level after verifying supporting documents to minimize inconvenience to citizens. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring proper hearings for unmapped voters at the ERO/AERO level, with political party representatives participating in the review meeting and sharing their feedback on the ongoing revision process.
