Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B. V. R. C. Purushottam reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive through a video conference with District Magistrates of all districts. During the meeting, he directed officials to ensure the time-bound disposal of Form 6, Form 7 and Form 8 within the next week, while strictly following the prescribed rules and procedures. He also sought detailed district-wise updates on the hearing and disposal of claims and objections and reviewed the action taken so far.
Dr. Purushottam emphasized that every eligible voter must get a fair opportunity to be included in the electoral roll. Of the 24.30 lakh notices issued in connection with unmapped and discrepancy cases among the 71.33 lakh voters in the draft electoral rolls, hearings have been completed for around 23 lakh voters. For the approximately 1.10 lakh voters who could not appear for the hearing, the CEO directed officials to provide an opportunity for re-hearing, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out. He further instructed all District Magistrates to expedite the remaining cases and complete the claims and objections process within the stipulated timeline.
