Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B. V. R. C. Purushottam chaired a video conference on Tuesday with District Magistrates/District Election Officers (DEOs) from all districts of Uttarakhand to review preparations for the upcoming Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2027 of electoral rolls and the ongoing First-Level Checking (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs.

The Chief Electoral Officer directed officials to conduct physical inspections of all 12,543 polling stations across the state. Polling stations operating from dilapidated buildings must be shifted to nearby government buildings through the prescribed procedure. He also instructed officials to ensure essential facilities, including electricity, ramps, drinking water and toilets. Reviewing preparations for SSR 2027, scheduled to commence on November 12, 2026, with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date, Dr. Purushottam directed all DEOs to undertake a special 10-day campaign to scrutinise electoral rolls. The campaign will focus on re-verifying voters’ names, ages, relationship details and relatives’ names. Form 8 applications must be completed wherever discrepancies or errors are identified.

As per the schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on November 12, 2026, followed by the claims and objections period from November 12 to December 11, 2026. Hearings on claims and objections will be completed by December 28, 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on January 4, 2027. It was also clarified that during the claims and objections period, an elector may submit a maximum of 10 Form 7 applications as an objector. During the continuous updation period, an individual elector may submit a maximum of five Form 7 applications per month.

The meeting was attended by Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Prakash Chandra Dumka, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Shri Mastu Das, and District Magistrates from all districts of Uttarakhand.
