Problem Addressed & Objective
Problem:
· Limited income generation opportunities in rural areas of the state.
Objectives:
· Induction of high yielding milch animals from outside state.
· Promoting women entrepreneurship across state.
· Increasing cattle wealth of the state.
· To improve the milk production and procurement through DCS.
Scheme Design & Key Interventions
· To provide 2, 3 and 5 units of milch animals to DCS members.
· Scheme was restructured and provides 75% subsidy for women and SC/ST members.
· For Gen. category members (male) 50% subsidy has been provided.

Physical Outputs
A total of 4056 milch animals have been inducted into the state in last 5 years.
Employment & Livelihoods Generated
· A total of 1824 DCS members have benefited under the scheme in last 5 years.
· An additional income of Rs. 2.19 Cr. per month has been generated for DCS members through cattle induction scheme.
Ground-Level Outcomes & Impact
An average of approx. 14000 liters of milk per day has been added to the current milk procurement volume by the induction of new milch animals.
Evidence & Success Stories
In DCS Fatehpur Tanda under DUSS Dehradun, Mrs. Urmila Negi, Member Code 15, was having a small dairy farm of 04 milch animal with milk production of approx. 28 LPD. She has applied for 5-unit cattle loan under the scheme. After that the total production has increased to approx. 70 LPD. So, her income from milk sales has gone up. This helped her with further expansion of the dairy farm. Currently she has 89 milch animals with a total production of approx. 750 LPD.
Implementation Challenges & Corrective Action
· Current cattle induction process from DCS member selection to cattle purchase is very lengthy and complex.
· Introduction of software-based operations from DCS member selection to cattle purchase.
Present Status & Way Forward
· Currently the cattle induction scheme is under restructuring .
· The scheme will be reintroduced once the restructuring is completed.
· The plan is to induct about 5000 milch animals to DCS members by the year 2030.
