Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam held a meeting with representatives of recognized national political parties on Friday to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in detail. During the meeting, he briefed the representatives on the ongoing claims and objections process under the third phase of SIR and provided point-wise information on the relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act, the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and the Manual of Electoral Rolls. He informed that from July 14 to August 13, a total of 2,83,890 claims and objections were received through various channels, including 1,28,000 Form 6 applications, 1,07,000 Form 7 applications, and 47,000 Form 8 applications.

The Chief Electoral Officer urged political parties to ensure the active participation of their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) during the disposal of claims and objections. He also informed them that the digitization of Forms 6, 7, and 8 is currently underway. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Shri Kishan Singh Negi, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Shri Mastu Das, and representatives of BJP, Indian National Congress, BSP, Aam Aadmi Party, and CPI (M).
