Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam informed that, as per the directions of the Election Commission of India, a special campaign is being conducted across Uttarakhand to ensure the inclusion of all eligible voters in the electoral roll. Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat Media Centre, he outlined the key initiatives and timelines of the campaign.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that from October 8 to 10, 2026, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct special camps at all 12,543 polling stations across the state to verify voters included in the ASDD list under the pre-SIR and SIR exercises and identify eligible voters. Thereafter, from October 12 to 20, BLOs will undertake door-to-door visits and assist identified eligible persons in filling Form 6 for inclusion in the electoral roll.

Dr. Purushottam said that the campaign is being carried out with the participation of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties and members of Booth Awareness Groups. BLOs will compare the existing electoral roll with the pre-SIR roll to identify persons whose names were present earlier but are not reflected in the current roll. Their present status will be verified through door-to-door visits, and eligible persons will be facilitated in submitting Form 6.

He further informed that the door-to-door exercise will also cover citizens who attained or will attain the age of 18 years as on October 1, 2026, making them eligible for enrolment as voters. The booth-wise lists will be shared with BLAs of recognised political parties. In the final phase, EROs will also share the booth-wise lists with political party representatives, providing an additional opportunity to identify and facilitate the inclusion of any eligible voters who may have been left out. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastudas were also present at the press conference.
