Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B. V. R. C. Purushottam on Friday assured a visiting Congress delegation that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttarakhand is being conducted strictly in accordance with established rules and procedures.

During the interaction, the CEO highlighted the measures being undertaken to ensure transparency, effective supervision and impartiality throughout the revision process. He informed the delegation that nine senior administrative officers have been deputed as supervising officers in districts that have received a high volume of claims and objections. Dr. Purushottam further stated that the Divisional Commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon have been assigned as observers for the overall exercise, strengthening the monitoring mechanism across the state.

Emphasising stakeholder engagement, the CEO said that instructions have been issued to all districts to conduct regular meetings with political parties. He reiterated that continuous coordination with political stakeholders is an important part of ensuring transparency and confidence in the SIR process. The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the SIR exercise.
